Effects of intranasal administration of multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) suspension on respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in mice

چکیده

To evaluate the effects of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) on a host immune system, we assayed them using murine model respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection. MWCNT suspended in solution were intranasally administered to mice days 1, 3, and 5 before RSV On day post-infection, levels representative inflammatory markers (interferon-γ, chemokines CCL3 CCL5) bronchoalveolar lavage fluid (BALF) significantly increased RSV-infected due exposure compared control. A histopathological analysis confirmed exacerbation pneumonia. However, significant changes not observed mock-infected this study. Some alveolar macrophages engulfing aggregates localized cells lung tissues, but RSV-positive immunohistopathologically stained with an anti-RSV antibody apart from those cells. Thus, intranasal treatment should affect pulmonary response against RSV, exacerbating infection mice.

Identification of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Genome in the Stool of a Child with Acute Gastroenteritis

Case Report: Some viruses have been reported to cause respiratory and gastroenteric infections simultaneously. In this case we present isolation of human respiratory virus (RSV) type B from diarrheal sample of a 12 months' child with acute gastroenteritis. Results: The results indicated the presence of RSV subtype B genome in all three stool samples. Moreover, no sign of co-infections with oth...

Effects of Nanotube/Matrix Interface on Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube Reinforced Polymer Mechanical Properties

In this paper, experimental and Finite Element Methods have been used to determine mechanical properties of nanocomposites. Standard tensile and compression samples with 0.0, 0.15, 0.25, 0.35, 0.45, and 0.55 weight fraction of Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotube (MWCNT) were prepared and tested. Nanotube weight fraction was varied to investigate the effects of nanotube weight fraction on nanocomposite...

Perinatal Lamb Model of Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) Infection

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most frequent cause of bronchiolitis in infants and children worldwide. Many animal models are used to study RSV, but most studies investigate disease in adult animals which does not address the unique physiology and immunology that makes infants more susceptible. The perinatal (preterm and term) lamb is a useful model of infant RSV disease as lambs have...

The Effects of Functionalized Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube on Mechanical Properties of Multi-walled Carbon Nanotube/Epoxy Composites

The mechanical properties of the multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT)/epoxy composites affected by carboxyl and amino functionalized MWCNT are investigated. Tensile tests of the specimens were carried out to obtain mechanical properties of MWCNT/epoxy composites for various weight-percents (wt %) of MWCNTs. In order to properly predict the mechanical properties of MWCNT reinforced epoxy composi...
